"The Further Adventures of Lad,"
published in 1922, is the sequel to Terhune''s wildly successful
"Lad, a Dog." Through his books, Terhune created a love of dogs in general and
Collies in particular. He opened the eyes of thousands of children to the potential for a close,
loving relationship with a dog.
Albert Payson Terhune was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1872 and
lived most of his life at Sunnybank, his estate on the shores of
Lake Pompton. It was there that he raised the famous Collies about whom he
wrote - Lad, Bruce, Wolf and Treve. Terhune died in 1942.
